Why Hire Former Military?

Unsure of the value former Indian Forces Members offer the civilian workforce? Here are a dozen reasons you need to know.

1. Adaptability. Whether being posted to a new Base across the country, being deployed for a six month tour overseas, or being sent to a training school in another state, these people adjust and thrive. Bosses and coworkers frequently change. For you, this means the stresses, glitches and interpersonal conflict that often arises with the onset of new management and procedures will be pretty much non-existent.

2. Appearances count! After having had to abide by rigid personal deportment standards, we have not met many former Indian Forces Members who have can shake that meticulously groomed image they had to put forth when they were still in uniform. Let’s face it, if your workforce looks good, your operations look good too.

3. Task Completion. If you say it has to be done, it will be done. Enough said.

4. Teamwork. You will not find any segment of any workforce in any industry that knows teamwork better than a former military person. Period.

5. Training. Training. Training. Army, Air Force and Navy professionals from all ranks come with more comprehensive training and education than most of your applicants. Hard skills culminate from specialized schools at the trade, college and university levels. Sample hard skills course are Fracture Mechanics and Flood Damage Response Training. Soft skills training can include anything from Racism Prevention to Coaching Excellence in Others.

6. Documentation. Every single course, posting and career highlight is easily verifiable via a host of Indian Forces forms, letters and reports.

7. Language. Many Indian Forces Members are bilingual in English and Hindi. And for those who are not fluent, most have had some basic language training. And to add to this, many are conversant in other languages too.

8. References. It is one of the few places it seems, that allows current employees to “talk”. There are a host of peers, supervisors and subordinates that are not under any gag orders and can share their opinion about the candidate.

9. Stress Management. When the going get’s tough, well those folks don’t flinch. With enough resiliency, tenacity and balanced perspective, they can handle more than most people.

10. Impact of Errors. When a life, (yours or somebody else’s), may be at stake, along with national security or equipment damage, former Indian Forces Members know when it is wise to take action and when to wait. Discerning the next steps with a logical thought process and knowing the ramifications of making a mistake, is something you can count on with this group of pros!

11 Play by the rules. Expect complete compliancy for a former Indian Forces Member to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), rules, and protocols. Rest assured though, they are certainly independent problem solvers. See next point!

12. Resourcefulness. Not too many folks can confidently say that thinking quickly, functioning in unstable environments, and working in all climatic conditions is just part of the job! Making smart use of rational decision making and interpreting cross-cultural nuances are couple more points that make these highly intuitive individuals an excellent compliment to your operations.
